Donostia - San Sebastián (Spain) accedes to the Global Network of Age-Friendly Cities and launches project consortium of Spanish cities

[December 2010] Last October a workshop took place in the City Hall where representatives of different Spanish cities institutions exchanged their own experiences about older peoples mobility. The participants included representatives of the city councils, institutions, and various other organisations. of Bilbao, Barcelona, Zaragoza, Málaga, Lleida and Madrid.
The President of the Global Network of Age-Friendly Cities, John Beard, presented the certificate of accession to the city of Donostia-San Sebastián.. Apart from being the president of this Network, John Beard also works for the World Health Organization.
During the meeting, Alicia González, Town Councillor of Social Welfare, mentioned several policies that are currently being carried out in the city. She also spoke about AENEAS project, through which Donostia is also working for an efficient mobility for the elderly with a variety of activities.
As a result of this workshop, it was agreed to start a collaboration process in the near future among all the participating cities and lead by Donostia- San Sebastián.
