The talk show had a lively debate |
[September 2010] This September a talk show was held about mobility in Cadena SER- Radio San Sebastián. This is a radio station with the largest audience in the city. The talk show was one of the city council’s programmes during the European Mobility Week.
Participants of the talk show were all representatives of different associations of the city that deal with mobility in some way. The invited persons were Jesús Mari Alquezar, President of the Basque Camping Club, Gerardo Lertxundi, Manager of Donostia Bus (the public transport bus company of the city) and Higinio Otazu, member of Kalapie Association. This was founded in 1989 and its aim is to foster the use of bicycle as a daily means of transport in the city. The Basque Camping Club has always participated in all the activities that have been organized by the AENEAS project in order to foster and improve the mobility of older people in Donostia- San Sebastián
During the talk, they discussed about different means of transport and about future measures that should be taken. The talk show primarily focused on older people’s mobility in the city and the main problems they usually find related to it. Similar to the results of our earlier the survey that we made after the Training Workshop about Road Safety, their principal worry turned out to be the presence of bicycles across the streets. They complained about the number of them and their high speed. Therefore, discussions centred around this topic and the future actions that should be carried out.
The talk show had a large audience: 55,000 people listened to it. They could also participat in the talk giving their opinions and raising their questions through the Facebook website of the radio station.
