The city map for senior citizens developed by the
Munich Department for Health and Environment has now been awarded
with the 2011 Bavarian Award for Health and Prevention (Bayerischer
Gesundheitsförderungs- und Präventionspreis 2011), as it provides
guidance for short distance mobility for older people.
Green City also took part in creating the map. Before being
finalized, Green City introduced the map to older people during
afternoon sessions in the Senior Citizen Centres of Untergiesing,
Obergiesing and Harlaching within the framework of the AENEAS
Project. 35 volunteers could then test the map for one week and were
invited to make suggestions the improve the map – like enlarging the
symbols, changing colours and marking the access to cemeteries.
