[April 2010] Under the motto “Explore your city” the two Salzburg partners StadtBus and ZGB – Zentrum für Generationen und Barrierefreiheit have started their latest AENEAS-activity on April 29th 2010.

For this purpose guidebooks in form of a folder were developed for the seven bus lines crossing Salzburg. On the one hand these guidebooks encourages older people to stay mobile even at old age and on the other hand not only to use the bus to run errands but also to use it for small trips and to explore parts of the city.

Another ambition of the project is to encourage people who use public transport only rarely or not at all to deal with this form of mobility – that way even younger car driver’s curiosity is aroused and they can get in contact with public transport in a charming way.

Starting with bus line no. 4 from Liefering to Mayrwies interesting buildings, persons and stories are presented which sometimes even local people do not know about.

The folders are printed in 12pt letters and include among other things tips for small walks with details about distances, resting places, public toilets and accessibility.

The guidebooks are published monthly and are presented on an extra bus tour that is accompanied by a tour guide. The first extra tour found so much approval that there were not sufficient seats left on the bus.

The folders are available in the StadtBus service centres and are mailed to several organisations for senior citizens.
The next dates of publication and presentation are:

22 September, 21 October and 23 November, 2010
