AENEAS is excited to announce the 2010 launch of its ‘Good Practice Exchange Ring’ database. The searchable database gathers together news and information regarding urban mobility for older people throughout the entire European Union.

Older people cycling training scheme in Munich
Older people cycling training scheme in Munich

Green City initiated the project with the support of the City of Munich in the summer of 2006. The major goal of the training courses is to make older people enjoy everyday cycling once again. Moreover, they should be trained for critical situations in traffic and overcome inhibitions towards alternative bikes.

During the summer months, several training courses with special concepts developed for older people are still being carried out. They last for about 4 hours with a small theoretical introduction and then a practical training. They are conducted in different districts of Munich. Older People Service Centres are involved as venue for the training courses.

Introduction of minibus services for the higher parts of the city in Donostia - San Sebastián

The project consisted in improving the accessibility of the residential districts located on hillsides close to the city centre by implementing new minibus services.

The action was jointly planned and is being implemented by the Municipality of Donostia-San Sebastián and the city public transport company, Companía del Tranvía.

”Walk and Talk” for older people (60+) in a local area in Odense
”Walk and Talk” for older people (60+) in a local area in Odense

A pilot project “Walk and Talk” started as part of an education programme within senior sport for two employees of the city of Odense – both work on health promotion and prevention for older people.

The aim is to increase older people’s motivation to walk, strengthen their social relations and hold on to good walking habits. The activity is an offer to both active and less active older people, since the walking trips can be adjusted in both length and speed.
