AENEAS Kick-off Conference: Get on, Get off, Get around!

[September 2008, Salzburg] The AENEAS project started its activities with the organisation of a conference about the opportunities for changing and managing mobility in an ageing society. Over the course of two days participants discussed issues such as:

   • What do older passengers need?
   • How can target-group orientation produce a win-win situation?
   • Which concepts foster multi-modal mobility?
   • How is energy-efficient mobility encouraged?

The event attracted participants from several countries. The conference topics covered diverse issues related to older people’s mobility. First, an in-depth review was presented by a scientist about the physiological changes, needs and dangers of ageing. Presentations were given on the issue both from the transport provider’s angle as well as from the point of view of passenger, biker or pedestrian.
The event was followed by the Third Annual Salzburg Mobility Day for senior citizens and people with restricted mobility. This event was an excellent chance for local public transport users to learn practical tips and tricks for safe and easy travelling. It was an excellent opportunity to build direct linkages between transport providers and users, to collect feedback and to increase trust.
