Walking Tours for Older People in Salzburg
On May 19, 2009, the Center for Generations and Accessibility, Austria (ZGB), in cooperation with the Women's Office of Salzburg, organised its second walking tour in the programme “Short City Walks for Older People and People with Reduced Mobility”. Led by a professional tour guide, participants discovered historic sites that were home to famous citizens.
The idea behind these tours is to support and encourage the mobility of older people. The tours are therefore designed to meet the needs of older pedestrians: information is provided more loudly, the walking speed is more relaxed, and occasional resting time is included. And as a special addition, with the aim of reducing potential mental resistance to physical mobility tools, participants were given the chance to try out rollators, an offer that was very positively received.
